A violation of our hazing policy will also likely violate the State of Florida’s Statute 1006.63 prohibiting Hazing. More information about those criminal penalties can be found here. 20. Intimidation a. An implied threat or act that causes a reasonable fear of harm in another. 21. Littering a. Littering on grounds owned or leased by the college, by other college students, other members of the college community, campus visitors, or others. 22. Providing False Information or Misuse of Records a. Knowingly furnishing false information to the college, to a college official in the performance of their duties, or to an affiliate of the college, either verbally or through forgery, alteration or misuse of any document, record or instrument of identification. 23. Retaliatory Discrimination or Harassment a. Any intentional, adverse action taken by a responding individual or allied third party, absent legitimate nondiscriminatory purposes, against a participant [or supporter of a participant] in a conduct process, civil rights grievance proceeding, or other protected activity. 24. Smoking / Vaping a. No smoking in any campus building or residence hall. Smoking includes, but is not limited to: cigarette use, cigar use, use of e-cigarettes, vapes, etc. b. Smoking in unauthorized areas on college property as designated by the Beacon College smoke-free and tobacco-free environment policy. c. Students may possess legal smoking products and store them inside their residence hall spaces. Students are asked to observe courtesy when smoking outdoors and in large groups of people by stepping away from the immediate area surrounding doors and windows and refraining from blowing smoke in the direction of others. d. All residents must smoke in designated smoking areas in the residence halls and may not smoke on balconies at residence halls.
