Student Handbook 2025-26
Beacon College requires all students who live on campus or participate in collegiate athletics to maintain adequate health insurance coverage throughout the school year. Should any student not have insurance coverage prior to arriving on campus, Beacon is pleased to be able to offer to our students access to a group health insurance plan through Wellfleet. With regard to out-of-state health insurance providers, please be advised that medical services entail financial liability, and often out-of-state insurance companies do not cover out of network (out of state) expenditures. Most specialists in Florida do not accept out-of-state insurance as payment and may require payment at the time services are rendered. Additionally, those students with Medicaid from a state other than Florida may have a difficult time finding providers near Beacon. Therefore, this type of insurance is not recommended and students are encouraged to enroll in Wellfleet. A student’s decision to foregoing carrying any insurance or to carry out-of- state insurance, means they agree to bear the costs associated with that decision. Student Athletes may not participate in Beacon Athletics if they fail to carry adequate health insurance coverage as outlined herein. Student Athletes must either enroll in the College’s offered Health Insurance plan through Wellfleet or provide proof of their credible, adequate coverage. Failure to do so will result in disqualification from their team sport.
