Coordinator. The College will assist the student-athlete in obtaining appropriate medical care, which may include on-site evaluation, arranging transportation to a medical facility, or scheduling follow-up care. The student-athlete should follow the recommended treatment and rehabilitation plan. The College’s Athletic Health Coordinator will work with the student-athlete to manage rehabilitation and determine when it is safe to return to play. This process may involve consultation with the student athlete’s personal physician or other medical specialists. Before resuming full athletic participation after a significant injury or illness, the student-athlete may be required to obtain clearance from an authorized medical professional. If the student-athlete is experiencing mental health challenges that impact their ability to meet academic or athletic obligations, they are encouraged to inform a trusted authority such as their coach, Athletic Director, or a counselor. Beacon College is committed to supporting the mental and emotional well-being of its student-athletes. The student-athlete has access to mental health resources, including the Beacon College Counseling and Wellness Center (which offers confidential counseling services with licensed professionals) and the Beacon 24/7 Wellness Line (a hotline for round-the clock mental health support or crisis assistance). The student-athlete is encouraged to seek help through these services for stress, anxiety, depression, or any other personal issues that may arise. Utilizing mental health resources will have no adverse effect on the student-athlete’s scholarship or standing; in fact, the College encourages proactive attention to mental wellness just as it does physical health. The College will work to provide accommodations or adjustments as reasonable. The student-athlete may be required to attend periodic workshops or educational sessions on health and wellness topics (e.g., nutrition, sleep, injury prevention, mental health awareness, substance abuse prevention, etc.) organized by the Athletic Department or Division of Student Affairs. These sessions are intended to promote the overall well-being of student-athletes and are considered an integral part of the athletic program. Attendance is expected as part of the student-athlete’s commitment to personal development and health.
