● Parent & Family Orientation: Friday, January 19 - Saturday, January 20, 2024 ● All meals for students are provided throughout the duration of Orientation ● Students are REQUIRED to attend all student sessions as listed in the Orientation schedule

Wednesday, January 10, 2024

7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Pre-Orientation Webinar Location: Livestream https://us02web.zoom.us/j/84933638499 Join us for a pre-Orientation webinar! During this time, we’ll discuss the steps to complete prior to your arrival, the check-in process, and go through the Orientation schedule.

Friday, January 19, 2024

11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Incoming Student Check-In & Move-in Location: Student Center | 118 E. Main Street, Leesburg, FL 34748 Welcome to Beacon! During check-in, you’ll receive your housing key and complete the clearance process; faculty, staff, and student leaders will be on hand to answer questions. Clearance offices include: Financial Aid, Registrar, Accounting Services, Health Services, IT, and Housing & Residential Life. If you’d like to expedite your check-in process, please complete and submit new student paperwork prior to your arrival on campus. Once your check-in has been completed, spend the day moving into your new home and setting up your room! Parking is available across the street from the Student Center.

SPRING 2024

Campus Walking Tour with Admissions (optional) Location: Meet at RAP/PAR Courtyard

2:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m.

Students and their families are invited to take a brief walking tour with the Admissions Team to learn about the campus! Classrooms, support offices, and social hangout spaces will be reviewed to familiarize students and family members about life at Beacon College.

3:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Welcome to Beacon and Orientation Overview Location: Student Center

Hear from Katy Reinke, Associate Dean of Students and Title IX Coordinator as she welcomes you to the Beacon community. Meet Hanah Diebold, Director of Student Experience, as she introduces you to your Orientation Group and shares an overview of the Orientation schedule.

4:15 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Getting Involved at Beacon College Location: Student Center

Getting involved in college is one of the best ways to learn resources, find support systems, and build skills that will last beyond your time at Beacon. During this session, learn how to get involved at Beacon, where you can find resources for engagement, and discover ways to step outside your comfort zone! Dinner & Student Social – Welcome to Beacon Location: Beacon Oasis Dinner will be served in the Dining Commons! Then, join us for fun & games at the Oasis as we welcome you to Beacon College. Lighting the Flame and Late-Night S’mores Location: Beacon Oasis As you become members of the Beacon Community, join us for this new student tradition. Enjoy a late-night chat by the fire pit, complete with s’mores!

Breakfast Location: Dining Commons Come to the Dining Commons for breakfast anytime during these hours!

Orientation Group Meeting Location: Dining Commons

Following breakfast, all students will meet their OLs and Orientation Groups at the Dining Commons to attend their first Orientation session of the day. Accuplacer: Reading & Writing Assessment Location: PC Labs Your Orientation Leader will have more information about the room and location where you will be expected during this time. Throughout Orientation, students will rotate through sessions with their Orientation Group and their Orientation Leader. During these rotations, students will hear from a variety of offices and support resources that will help the students transition to life at Beacon College. Lunch Location: Dining Commons Come to the Dining Commons for lunch anytime during these hours! Health and Wellness at Beacon / Meeting with Learning Specialists During this time, one half of the students will attend the Health and Wellness at Beacon session while the other half meet with their Learning Specialist. Your OL will have more information regarding this time. Hear from various offices that help support the health and wellness of Beacon Students - Life Skills, Occupational Therapy, and the Counseling and Wellness Center. Student Orientation Rotation #2

SPRING 2024

Learning Specialists offer individualized support unique to a student’s need and level (first-year, sophomore, junior/senior). During this time, students will be introduced to their Learning Specialist and learn more about the Learning Specialist’s role in their success at Beacon. Dinner Location: Dining Commons Come to the Dining Commons for dinner anytime during these hours!

5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

7:15 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Student Evening Social — Bowling Location: AMF Leesburg Lanes (meet at Student Center)

Come bowling with us! We’re providing transportation, bowling games, shoe rental, and snacks for this fun event with fellow new students! Meet at the Student Center at 7:15 p.m. to board the Beacon shuttles for the evening social.

Campus Safety at Beacon College Location: Palace Theater Learn about personal safety and meet Campus Safety Officers with Jeff Baird, Director of Campus Safety.

10:15 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. Title IX at Beacon College Location: Palace Theater

Learn about student rights and responsibilities, as well as what Title IX

means within the Beacon community with Jim Borden, Director of Student Conduct, and Katy Reinke, the Associate Dean of Students and Title IX Coordinator.

11:30 a.m. / 12:00 p.m. Classroom Tour (optional)

Location: Meet at Student Center

Orientation Leaders are happy to show you around campus and point out specific classroom locations. Bring your class schedule!” Lunch Location: Dining Commons Come to the Dining Commons for lunch anytime during these hours! Hall Meetings Location: Various locations around campus Learn about community living, housing policies, and meet other students living in your new community! Break Time Use this time to rest and relax before joining our evening social! Welcome Back Luau & Block Party Location: Beacon Oasis Dinner is served during the Welcome Back Luau at the new Beacon Oasis! Join new and returning students for dinner, music, games, and fun!
