Welcome to Beacon, Navigator PREP students! This is your first step in joining the Beacon community. You will check-in during this time. During check-in, you’ll receive your housing key and complete the

clearance process; faculty, staff, and student leaders will be on hand to answer questions.

Clearance offices include: Financial Aid, Registrar, Accounting Services, Health Services, and Housing & Residential Life. If you’d like to expedite your check-in process, please complete and submit new student paperwork prior to your arrival on campus. Once your check-in has been completed and you’ve taken a picture for your student ID, spend the day moving into your new home and setting up your room!

Parking is available across the street from the Student Center, enter on Magnolia Street.

Join other Navigator PREP students for a dinner and ceremony to celebrate your completion of the Navigator PREP program. Wednesday, August 20, 2025

Your journey begins here! During check-in, you’ll receive your housing key and complete the clearance process; faculty, staff, and student leaders will be on hand to answer questions. Orientation Overview Location: Morrison UMC FLC (1009 W. Main Street, Leesburg, FL 34748)

Meet Hanah Diebold, Associate Dean of Student Engagement and Community Standards, as she introduces you to your Orientation Group and shares an overview of the Orientation schedule. Transportation to Morrison UMC FLC will be available for anyone who needs it. Beacon shuttles will leave from the RAP/PAR Courtyard at 2:45 p.m.

Student Workshop Sessions Location: See Individual Orientation Sheet for Details

College is a great time to get involved, find support systems, and build skills that will last beyond Beacon.

During this time, students will rotate between two (2) workshops. One workshop will focus on independent living skills, while the other sessions will teach student the best ways to get involved around campus.

5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Student Social – Welcome Bash Location: Beacon Oasis

Join in the fun at the Welcome Bash! Students will have the opportunity to dance, play mini golf, and more! Mystic Ice Cream will be on site – free for students to enjoy Thursday, August 21, 2025

Navigating Social Relationships and Self-Advocacy Location: See Individual Orientation Sheet for Details

During this time, students will rotate between Accuplacer Assessment Math, if needed, and an interactive workshop to build the skills you need to navigate social connections and self-advocacy.

Both your Orientation Sheet and your OL will give you more details about your individual rotations during this time.

12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Lunch & Break Time

2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Convocation Location: Venetian Center - Harris Room (1 Dozier Cir, Leesburg, FL 34748) Parents, families, students – Welcome to Beacon College! Join Dr. Hagerty, our President, as well as faculty, staff, and other incoming students for the ceremonial start to the academic year. Transportation to The Venetian Center will be available for anyone who needs it. Beacon shuttles will leave from the RAP/PAR Courtyard at 1:30 p.m. and 1:45 p.m. Resource Fair Location: Morrison UMC FLC (1009 W. Main Street, Leesburg, FL 34748)

During this time, students will rotate between Accuplacer Assessment English, if needed, and an interactive workshop to learn about student accountability and tips for making the most of your time at Beacon.

Both your Orientation Sheet and your OL will give you more details about your individual rotations during this time.

12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Goodbye BBQ

Location: Dining Commons

Please join Orientation Leaders, students, and families for a special lunch. Take time for final farewells, pictures, and hugs before parents & families depart campus.

Student Workshop Sessions Location: Various Locations Around Campus

During this time, students will rotate through learning sessions with their Orientation Group and their Orientation Leaders. During these rotations, students will learn from a faculty panel about the best ways to engage with and meet the expectations of your faculty, while also working with a professional improv comedian to help tackle anxiety to build social skills.

Learning Specialists offer individualized support unique to a student's need and level (first-year, sophomore, junior/senior) . During this time, students will be introduced to their Learning Specialist and learn more about the Learning Specialist’s role in their success at Beacon.

12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Lunch & Break Time

Please join your Orientation Leader for lunch and enjoy a break.

2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Hall Meetings Location: Residence Halls

Build community with those living in your residence hall. Both your OL and your RD will have more details about when and where you’re meeting! Off-campus students get to enjoy an extended break period!

Student Evening Social – Bowling and Art Night Location: Off-campus (meet at Student Center)

Come bowling with us! We’re providing transportation, bowling games, shoe rental, and snacks for this fun event with fellow new students!

Meet at the Student Center at 7:00 p.m. to board the Beacon shuttles for the evening social.
