The Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Services provides a comprehensive understanding of human behavior and the associated skills to enhance employment opportunities in the field of Human Services. HUMANITIES The Humanities major draws from a range of academic disciplines to provide students with the intellectual foundations and analytical skills for understanding the past, present, and future of the world and its peoples. Organized around a foundational theme of exploring key methods for restructuring an imperfect society, the core provides students with hands-on experiential learning opportunities for solving contemporary dilemmas. The Associate of Arts degree in Humanities provides students with an educational foundation to examine interests and career goals before pursuing further study or professional training. The Bachelor of Arts degree in Humanities provides students with a comprehensive liberal arts education to instill the skills and abilities to crucially and creatively solve global problems, display a refined sense of individual and social responsibility, and be fully prepared for a wide spectrum of professions. PSYCHOLOGY The Psychology major provides a comprehensive knowledge of psychological theories and research methods, development of critical thinking skills, an application of psychology, and an understanding of professional ethics and values. Through field placements, students gain work experience designed to facilitate employment in the field of psychology. The Associate of Arts degree in Psychology provides students with an introductory understanding of psychological theories. The Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology prepares students for the rigor of graduate school and/or employment through the study of research methods, statistics, and cognitive neuroscience. STUDIO ARTS The Studio Arts major prepares students how to think like artists. Students learn to demonstrate contemporary art practices and procedures through the creation of a professional quality portfolio containing artist statements, resume, and professional quality images of personal artwork. The Associate of Arts degree in Studio Arts provides students with an educational foundation in the fundamentals of art. The Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Arts prepares students with a comprehensive studio arts foundation preparing them for employment, self-employment, or the rigor of graduate school.
