initiate the hearing process. The Conduct Committee Hearing may be conducted via electronic means.

Staff will work to accommodate student schedules as best they are able, including by conducting Conduct Committee Hearings via electronic means if beneficial. A Conduct Committee Hearing will not be conducted without the respondent being given an opportunity to attend. However, if other involved parties are not available or unwilling to attend, the process may still move forward within the timeline outlined herein. Any Interim Suspension imposed on the respondent will remain in place until the conduct process is complete. A student has a right to an advisor from within the College community. If a student has an advisor and if the advisor wishes to attend the electronic hearing, the advisor must be present on screen. In instances of multiple conduct cases, each case shall be heard in sequence chronologically, with scheduling regards for witnesses to attend at predetermined times. A student who is suspended for an interim period shall be provided an opportunity to appeal the decision to the Vice President of Student Affairs no later than four (4) business days following the effective date of the interim suspension. Such appeal shall be for the purpose of reviewing the interim action and will not reach the merits of the underlying charges.

Burden of Proof

Decisions in the conduct process will be based on the preponderance of the evidence. This means that the evidence must show it is more likely than not that the alleged violation occurred.
