Student Handbook 2025-26
Students experiencing roommate conflicts are encouraged to seek mediation through the Office of Housing and Residence Life. Trained staff members are available to assist with resolving conflicts and facilitating communication between roommates.
Roommate Agreements
At the beginning of each semester, roommates are required to complete a Roommate Agreement form to outline expectations and responsibilities. This agreement can serve as a reference in case of conflicts and help prevent misunderstandings.
Health and Safety Inspections
Beacon College conducts Health and Safety Inspections every month. Inspections are conducted by Resident Directors during the first full week of every month while school is in session, except December and May due to finals weeks. Residents are notified and reminded of scheduled Health and Safety Inspection week the Friday prior to the inspections. Resident Directors conduct Health and Safety Inspections in every residential space to ensure students maintain tidy living environments and develop independent living skills essential for adulthood. These inspections also address serious cleanliness concerns that could impact residents' health and identify potential safety issues arising from concerning living habits.
Requirement to Vacate in Emergency
In the event the College orders the campus to close because of a hurricane, natural disaster, or other emergency, the Office of Housing and Residence Life will require students to vacate their rooms until further notice.
