This overview of RAP Hall is designed to help you get a sense of the space you will be living in, become familiar with your apartment options and furniture, and prepare for residence life at Beacon College.

“Pod” Description Each pod contains: • 5 Single Bedrooms (one occupant each) • 2 Bathrooms • Living room and kitchenette space • Large storage closet

Bedroom Furniture The following furniture is provided for you in your bedroom at RAP Hall. All furniture is moveable in the bedroom and living room space. All furniture must remain in the space.

The bed and mattress are TWIN XL . The mattress is: 8 inches deep x 36 inches wide x ≈80 inches long

* The wardrobe and desk are lockable, but you will need to provide the locks. ** Please make sure you purchase TWIN XL sheets. This is larger than a standard twin.

Bed Lofting You also are allowed to loft your bed, but we ask that you not attempt to loft the bed yourself. Lofting the bed requires specific tools and is a two person job. Additionally, if you request your bed to be put on the “high” height, we highly recommend that you buy a bed rail. These can easily be found online. If you are interested in having your bed lofted, we will be happy to accommodate your request. There are three options available and we have provided pictures to show you the different heights:

Low 21” off the ground

Medium 42” off the ground (dresser fits underneath)

High 62” off the ground (bed end is the ladder)

Windows There is one window inside each bedroom. There are two sizes of windows, so please make sure you correctly identify your window size based on your bedroom letter. The interior window dimensions are provided here:

Please note: If you are interested in hanging a curtain in your room, we allow tension rods only . You may not install a curtain rod on your window. Curtains must be fire/flame retardant and have a visible tag indicating this. These curtains are easily found online. Shared Living Areas and Amenities These spaces and amenities are shared by all the residents in the pod. There are no windows in these common areas. Living Room We provide a couch, coffee table, and built-in TV stand in the living room. The living room is the only room with a digital cable connection. There is also an Ethernet port connection next to the cable connection. We do not supply a TV for this space. E

Kitchenette The kitchenette has a sink and cabinet storage. Permitted small appliances are to be kept in this space. Hallway Closet & Storage There is a large closet and shelving storage in the hallway of the pod. Bathrooms There are two bathrooms in each pod. One bathroom is handicap accessible with a walk-in shower, toilet, stabling bars on the wall, and a pedestal sink ( ). The second bathroom has a tub/shower, toilet, and sink ( ), with a vanity and sink outside the bathroom in the hallway ( ). A shower curtain rod is provided in each apartment. You will need to provide a shower curtain. Shower curtains must be fire/flame retardant and have a visible tag indicating this. These shower curtains are easily found online. Appliances There are no appliances provided in the pod. These larger appliances are permitted: Microwave – You are allowed to bring one microwave for the pod. The microwave must be placed in the common area only. The microwave must be 1.1 cubic feet/800 watt or smaller . Mini-Refrigerator – You are allowed a mini-refrigerator in your bedroom. The mini-refrigerator must be 3.2 cubic feet or smaller and you must provide a spill tray/drip pan for the refrigerator to sit on. Cable & Internet There is one digital cable connection in the living room. There are Ethernet ports in the living room and all bedrooms. We suggest buying a network/Ethernet cord to plug into laptops, video gaming systems, etc. There is a Wi-Fi internet connection throughout the building. Communal Features Laundry Room Each floor has a laundry room with two washers and two dryers. There is no cost to use the washers or dryers. Photos of the washer ( ) and dryer ( ) are provided to help you understand how the washers and dryers operate. Shared Lounge There is a communal lounge area on the first floor with ample space for sitting, eating and/or socializing. First Floor Kitchen I J + K E F L M H G

There is a main kitchen on the first floor with a stove, oven, and microwave for use by all residents. Pots, pans, and other cooking utensils are not provided . Please be aware that the refrigerator in this space is locked and is used to store items for Housing programs throughout the semester.
