30th Anniversary History Book

THE FUTURE Hagerty has three keystone goals for Beacon in the years ahead: Seek ever new and innovative ways to enhance quality and expand the reach of the college’s distinguished mission; secure a financially sustainable business model for the institution; and spread the word about Beacon and build upon its academic reputation.

“In consultation with the Board of Trustees,” Hagerty said, “I have committed for the long-term to putting into place the foundations, programs, and structures that can sustain this vision and our unique mission in perpetuity.” With 40 years in the field of education to his credit, Hagerty said he looks forward to the years’ worth of work facing him at Beacon. “Under the guidance of the board,” he said, “our priorities will take particular aim at advancing the college’s information technology infrastructure and applications, as well as concentrating on making the high school-to-college and, on the other end, the college-to-career transitions as seamless as possible for students and their families.” Knowing that change in education — not to mention all walks of life — is constant, Hagerty promises that Beacon staffers will constantly think anew about the best strategies for achieving long-term institutional priorities. But rest assured, playing poker will not be one of the options.
